EA has seemingly rushed to remove footage of a pre-alpha build of its upcoming new Skate game after it leaked online last night.
The 30 second clip was first uploaded by an unknown party to video sharing site Odysee. However, the footage was soon removed a few hours later. But not before it was shared online, including by noted industry insiders Jeff Grubb & Tom Henderson. (As spotted by Video Games Chronicle.)
Grubb himself said the footage matched what he’d heard from his sources on the current state of the game. “They’re trying to get the feel right,” he claimed. “Which is the probably the most important aspect of a Skate game. To me, this is all exciting. It looks like the emphasis is on the fluidity of the animation, and it seems like EA is making good on its desire to give all its devs ample time to prototype.”
Henderson meanwhile mentioned that the game was in playtesting this week, which seems to indicate the source of the footage. He also said the map we see in a very early state is called “Fun City”. Both Tom and Grubb say they hope to have more on the game soon, with Grubb mentioning he’ll be talking about it on his next Grubbsnax podcast.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen much of Skate 4 or just ‘Skate.‘ as it’s currently going by. It was first announced in June of 2020, though we were warned it was a long way off back then. There’s still no ETA, with the last major update coming last summer when studio Full Circle reassured fans that they were working on it. Hopefully, we’ll get a more substantial update on their progress soon.
