Today marks the 1.0 launch of a little-known Battle Royale themed game called PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and to celebrate everyone who boots up the game on Steam is to receive a free in-game Winner Winner Chicken Dinner t-shirt, as shown above.

In case you’d not been keeping up or just wanted to wait until it was out of testing to try it, 1.0 adds a bunch of new stuff, from a new desert themed map called Miramar, a bunch of new vehicles both on land and sea, new weapons, a new vaulting mechanic, a 3D replay killcam feature and loads, loads more; far too much to mention in a simple news post, so here’s the patch notes in full if you’d like to take a browse.

As to the future, the PUBG development team remark in their announcement that they intend to look at server connection issues, considering limiting maximum ping where only players within a certain ping range will be able to play together in the same servers. Those outside that range will have to choose another, closer or otherwise better connected server to play on. In addition, a renewed focus is going to be on reinforcing anti-cheat measures, with the developer noting an estimated reduction of just over 65% since they began implementing them.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now in 1.0 release version on PC via Steam and a still-in-progress version in Xbox Game Preview for Xbox One.
