PlayStation users have a very exciting year ahead of them and hopefully, it will be another good year for PlayStation’s subscription service. While fans are more often than not satisfied with the game offerings, many are still dismayed at Sony’s price increase. The good news is that PS5 users can get PS Plus subscriptions for $40 cheaper than the standard fee, but the bad news is that there’s a catch.

Sony loyalists have a very exciting February ahead of them. One of the PS Plus February 2024 games is already confirmed, and it’s the day-one release of Square Enix’s attempt at Splatoon, Foamstars. Away from Sony’s subscription service, the month also packs two PS5 console-exclusive games Helldivers 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

While Helldivers 2 is exciting, you will need a PS Plus subscription to play online multiplayer. Now you can get online multiplayer through just subscribing to the Essentials tier, but you may be able to take advantage of a Sony discount to get Extra or Premium cheaper than usual.

PS5 users can get PS Plus at 35% discount

Some PS5 users are being offered PS Plus subscriptions at a 35% discount. This comes courtesy of Reddit user skipv5 in the PS5deals subreddit. Unfortunately, it appears to be restricted to users in the United States of America, and it is only targeted to specific users who are not already subscribed.

If you are not subscribed to PlayStation’s service and haven’t been for several months, make sure to check the email of your inbox affiliated with your PSN account. This is how the deals are being delivered and offered. Alas, it is not guaranteed to be 35% as some comments claim to have received 25% discounts instead with expiry dates of January 30th, 2024.

In addition to being restricted to the United States and targeted at specific users, the discounts also only apply to 12-month and three month options. Below are the prices for each tier at 35% off as shown by screenshots from skipv5:

12 months:

  • Premium – $103.99 ($159.99)
  •  Extra – $87.74 ($134.99)
  •  Essential – $51.99 ($79.99)

3 months:

  • Premium – $32.49 ($49.99)
  •  Extra – $25.99 ($39.99)
  •  Essential – $16.24 ($24.99)

If you receive a discount whether 35% or 25%, we’d recommend getting Extra or Premium at 12 months. But, regardless of what you buy, make sure to turn off automatic renewal in your settings otherwise you will be charged the full renewal fee once the subscription ends.

For more PlayStation news, the release time for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is nearly over. Reports also suggest that the first State of Play 2024 is imminent.
