We are set to have another incredible year of video game releases. The first quarter of the year is already stacked with heavy hitters, and there are also events for gamers to anticipate. While Xbox recently conducted their Developer Direct showcase, several leaks suggest that the first PS4, PS5 Sony State of Play 2024 is coming very soon.

Some of the new upcoming games PlayStation loyalists can enjoy include Tekken 8 and Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. Not only these two, but PS5 gamers can also get Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League early access before February arrives. Then, when February does arrive, there are two PS5 console exclusives to anticipate in Helldivers 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

While all of the above is exciting for January and February, there are many more games to anticipate over the next 12 months. And some of them may be showcased soon in the first PS4 and PS5 State of Play of 2024.

PS4, PS5 Sony State of Play 2024 is coming soon

A new leak says that the first PS4 and PS5 State of Play 2024 is coming roughly around January 31st. This comes courtesy of XboxEra co-founder, Shpeshal_Nick, on Twitter. This date does come with the caveat of ‘roughly,’ so it could be January 31st or February 1st. While nothing has been confirmed by Sony as of writing, this new rumor does align with the often reliable leaker billbil_kun who, in their dealabs report posted on January 23rd, suggested that the first State of Play of 2024 could arrive before February 7th.

In addition to billbil_kun and XboxEra’s Nick, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb said on the Giant Bombcast on January 9th that Sony’s first State of Play 2024 showcase is coming in “the next few weeks”. Again, Sony hasn’t confirmed anything, but it does appear a showcase is indeed imminent.

We haven’t had a State of Play event featuring games for the PS4 and PS5 since September 14th, 2023. An event in February makes a lot of sense as the 2024 release schedule reveals there are some huge PS5 console exclusives on the way. Alongside a date, XboxEra’s Nick also teased the following games to appear:

  • Rise of the Ronin
  •  Death Stranding 2
  •  Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  •  Sonic Generations Remaster
  •  Silent Hill 2
  •  New Metro game Judas
  •  Until Dawn Remaster

Again, nothing is official right now, but here’s hoping an announcement comes from Sony very soon. In other PlayStation news, you can find the patch notes for the latest PS5 system software update. Sony is also set to reveal the PS Plus February 2024 games, and one of the Essential giveaways is already confirmed.
