NIS America has announced that the demo for the localised port of the PS Vita RPG, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, is now available to download on the PSN Store in the EU and North America. This PS4 demo comes with an Exclusive Content Trailer that reveals a new difficulty option called the Inferno mode, new dungeons and two new forms for Dana that change her battle attributes.

The demo begins with Adol and his companions, Laxia and Sahad, on a remote part of the Isle of Seiren. Players will learn how to switch between characters in order to utilise elemental abilities to exploit enemy weaknesses, battle against two bosses and even indulge in an introduction to the game’s crafting.

The first Ys game in eight years sees the player going on a brand new adventure. The hero, Adol, awakens after being shipwrecked and stranded on an island that’s been ravaged by a curse. Adol and the other shipwrecked passengers join together, forming a village to protect one another from beasts. Visions appear to Adol of a mysterious blue-haired maiden, called Dana, living in an unknown world, and he sets out to unravel the story behind the cursed isle and exactly who the blue-haired maiden is.

The Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana demo is out now, and will be followed by the full game which will be released for the PS4 and PC on September 15. Ys VIII originally came out in Japan on the PS Vita.
