PS Plus subscribers have a lot to anticipate. For April 2025, a free game has possibly leaked, meanwhile, a day-one GOTY contender is confirmed. While two freebies are official for next month, Sony has just now confirmed another new PS Plus day-one mega release, and this time it is from the developer famous for Max Payne, Alan Wake, and Control.

New PS Plus day-one release from Remedy Entertainment confirmed

On the PlayStation Blog, Remedy Entertainment community manager, Julius Fondmen, has confirmed that their upcoming game, FBC Firebreak, is joining PS Plus as a day-one release.

It will be part of the Extra and Premium subscription tiers, and it will release in “Summer 2025 for PlayStation 5”. There’s no concrete release date right now, but summer suggests it should land between June and September.

Remedy Entertainment are a beloved developer thanks to their iconic catalogue of games. These games most notably include the original first two Max Payne installments, as well as the excellent Alan Wake series and Control. For the future, Remedy Entertainment is developing a Max Payne remake, and there is also a Control 2 in-development as well.

As for what FBC Firebreak is all about, it is Remedy’s first ever multiplayer game. It is set in the Control universe, and it is a “cooperative first-person shooter for three players set within a mysterious federal agency under assault by extradimensional forces”.

With two friends by your side, you will need to “Battle through hordes of otherworldly monsters”. There is an emphasis on fun with Remedy promising you will have a “great time laughing while chaotic and wacky things happen,” and the developer has also promised that this will not be treated like a second-job as players won’t be bogged down with “FOMO stuff”.

As a “badass combat engineer,” you will be equipped with unique tools by the FBC to combat the paranatural threat. These unique tools include Altered Augments such as the Garden Gnome (AI9) which summons a “lightning storm around it, damaging and stunning all creatures in its area and draining all energy from surrounding batteries”.

There’s also the Piggy Bank (AI16) which “attaches to the end of the Wrench, and when you swing your Wrench around, it deals massive damage in a large arc in front of you and shatters, releasing a paranatural coin tornado that damages all creatures in it”.

Again, FBC Firebreak will join PS Plus Extra and Premium as a day-one release in Summer 2025.
