Tomb Raider is one of the biggest video game franchises of all time with Lara Croft arguably gaming’s most iconic and beloved female protagonist. We cannot wait for Crystal Dynamics to finally unveil the new game they’ve been cooking in secret, but, right now, Tomb Raider fans are quickly running out of time to make Lara Croft’s most recent glorious return permanent.
Tomb Raider fans running out of time with Lara Croft’s most recent return
After becoming one of the most popular Fortnite crossover skins of all time back in 2021, Lara Croft finally returned to the battle royale scene on March 14th with a brand-new skin celebrating her goth phase in Angel of Darkness.
This skin is absolutely perfect not only because Angel of Darkness is incredibly popular due to Lara’s darker look alone, but also because it dropped in Fortnite just one month after the release of the excellent Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered trilogy.
Unfortunately, the skin and other accompanying items are set to leave the item shop. As per the official Tomb Raider website, Angel of Darkness will leave the battle royale at 8PM EDT on March 21st.
If you’re a fan of Lara Croft or have been eyeing the skin with curiosity, then now is the last chance to buy before it gets removed. The skin will likely return to the item shop in the future, but there’s no telling when and it could be years.
Below is everything new related to TR in the item shop:
- Outfit: Lara Croft (2000s)
- Customizable Accessories: Pants, Shorts, Vest, Glasses
- Back Bling: Tomb Raider’s satchel
- Wrap: Croft Legacy
- Pickaxe: Chiruagi
- Emote: Atlantean Cion
- Car Decal: Tomb Raider
- Tomb Raider Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
As for the future of Tomb Raider, we know Crystal Dynamics are developing TR12 in Unreal Engine 5, and it will be published by Amazon Games. The game will also depict a unified Lara Croft, meaning the timelines of all previous games have happened with the survivor trilogy as Lara’s official canon.
Right now, there’s no more official remakes planned from Aspyr, but we’re praying they will complete the job of fully restoring Lara Croft’s past glory by also remastering the LAU trilogy (Legend, Anniversary, Underworld).
In other gaming news, a PS Plus April 2025 game has possibly leaked while a day-one GOTY contender is confirmed.
