It’s been a fantastic month for PlayStation fans. Death Stranding 2 is now out and available to play in early access format, and it’s quickly established itself as one of the best games of 2025 so far with its Metacritic score smashing the first game. While the PS5 exclusive is excellent, PlayStation fans also have the imminent reveal of the PS Plus July 2025 free games to anticipate. The reveal date is right around the corner, and there are couple of games confirmed for next month already, while a new demo has just been added to the Premium tier.
PS Plus July 2025 free games reveal date
The reveal date for the PS Plus July 2025 Essential free games is June 25th. Sony typically reveals the upcoming selection on Wednesday, the week before the release date. Sony’s PlayStation Blog post for June confirms that the games will come out on July 1st.
As for Extra and Premium, they will be revealed on July 9th with the release date already confirmed for July 15th.
Make sure to grab the current Essential games before they expire on June 30th. The games available right now include NBA 2K25, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Destiny 2 The Final Shape, and the excellent Alone in the Dark Remake.
Confirmed PS Plus July 2025 games
There are only two games confirmed for PS Plus in July 2025 so far. These games are Twisted Metal 3 and 4, and they will both be added to the Premium tier on July 15th, presumably with the option for non-subscribers to buy from the PSN store.
In addition to Twisted Metal 3 and 4, PlayStation’s State of Play for June confirmed August will see the addition of a day-one release for Extra called Sword of the Sea. This is an exciting game former PlayStation president, Shuhei Yoshida, said was his “favorite” from Summer Game Fest.
The original Resident Evil 2 and 3 are also planned to be added to PS Plus “later this summer,” which presumably means they will join the Premium library in August.
PS Plus July 2025 games leaving
Below are all the games known to be leaving Extra and Premium for PS Plus on July 15th:
- Dying Light 2 (Extra)
- Remnant II (Extra)
- Mount & Blade II Bannerlord (Extra)
- Vampire The Masquerade – Swangsong (Extra)
- Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core Reunion (Premium)
- Job Simulator (Premium)
Thankfully, there are only six games leaving which is far fewer than previous months. Dying Light 2 is excellent and perfect to play before The Beast comes out in August, and Mount & Blade II Bannerlord is fantastic for players wanting a rich medieval RPG with huge battles. Make sure to play these games before they depart.
New Premium demo
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has just been added as a demo for Premium subscribers. This allows you to play the first two-hours of the game without needing to purchase. During these two-hours, you will battle the Sandman as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, in a thrilling boss fight that shows off the game’s epic scale.
In other PlayStation news, Death Stranding 2’s performance mode is so optimised that it’s the “obvious choice” for players.
