Unfortunately, the official Prince of Persia X account has confirmed that the “Sands of Time Remake won’t be at TGA this year”. While disappointing, there’s still hope that Ubisoft will be present at The Game Awards on December 11, possibly with the leaked Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake.

The Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake was officially unveiled in September 2020 with a planned release date of January 21, 2021. We are four years away from its initial release date, and we haven’t seen anything else since its reveal trailer, showcasing amateur gameplay and abhorrent graphics.

Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai were originally developing the remake, but they were replaced by Ubisoft Montreal in 2023. Ubisoft Montreal was the developer of the original 2003 classic for PS2, so hopefully, the remake is a lot better in their hands.

According to Insider Gaming’s co-founder and editor-in-chief, Tom Henderson, the Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake will release on January 16, 2026. Ubisoft hasn’t announced the release date, but, if it’s true, skipping The Game Awards is interesting as the event is synonymous with surprise reveals, trailers, and release date announcements.

It’s possible the game could shadow drop, releasing out of the blue, but again, nothing is official right now. The Sands of Time is arguably the best Prince of Persia installment, hence the anticipation. It’s so popular and recognized that its title was even used for the fairly average Prince of Persia 2010 movie starring Hollywood legend Jake Gyllenhaal.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake could still show up at The Game Awards

While the Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake is officially skipping The Game Awards, there’s still the possibility that Ubisoft’s leaked Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake could appear. Nothing is official, but an appearance seems appropriate as Insider Gaming also claims that the Black Flag Remake is set to release before March 31, 2026.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag was originally released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2013. It was also developed by Ubisoft Montreal, and it stars Edward Kenway. Best of all, it takes place during the Golden Age of Pirates, and it is best known for introducing the naval ship combat that was used and refined in later installments, such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

There are leaks about the remake courtesy of Jeux Vidéo Magazine, a French YouTuber who has correctly leaked Assassin’s Creed details in the past. According to them, the Black Flag Remake removes the modern-day storyline in favor of more content with Edward. It also reportedly implements the RPG-style gameplay, loot, and gear statistics seen in recent Assassin’s Creed Installments, Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows.

Although Black Flag is the sixth Assassin’s Creed game released, it is actually the tenth in the series’ chronological timeline. It takes place well after Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, so perhaps we can get an Easter Egg for Odyssey’s leading lady, Kassandra, seeing as she’s an immortal being brought back in Valhalla. Ubisoft has also hinted at bringing Kassandra back in Assassin’s Creed Shadows as part of something bigger than just a bronze statue in a cave.

Beyond the Black Flag Remake, Ubisoft’s next mainline installment after Shadows is codenamed Hexe. There are no official details about the game, but it’s rumored to take place in 16th-century Germany, focusing on the violent witch trials.
