Last week Palworld received back-to-back updates that were released for Steam and then Xbox shortly after. These patches fixed several bugs and provided some improvements. Pocketpair disclosed almost everything added via their patch notes, and the update added a significant change not all Palworld fans are aware of but do need to know about.

You can still check out the patch notes for the most recent 0.1.5.1 update. There were two patches released sharing the same identity, and one removed a popular bug the devs are sorry for fixing, meanwhile, the other added censorship not included in the patch notes.

Although there’s no proof, fans have pointed the finger of blame at Xbox for the added censorship. While not everyone is a fan of the way names have been censored in the last patch, there is another update that not all players are aware of but need to be as it concerns fire.

Palworld fire damage now stacks

Reddit user SirFigsALot shared a clip of the game to the Palworld subreddit. Their clip shows them wearing heat-resistant armor but still getting killed when releasing their fire pal. The query was whether this was a bug or glitch, or whether it was something the player was doing wrong.

As shared by comments in the replies, the issue was that fire effects now stack. Fire pals generate heat and this was stacked with the hot environment. The player’s armor was resistant enough to keep them safe from the hot zone that was plus +2 heat, but not with the added and stacked heat generated from their fire pal that was +1. They only had lvl 2 heat resistance.

Although not everyone was aware of the change as seen in some of the replies, it is actually alluded to in the patch notes. As per the 0.1.5.1 patch notes released on February 27th, Pocketpair changed specifications ‘so that all changes in environmental temperature added up’. The example Pocketpair used was ‘if you put 4 campfires next to each other, the surrounding area will have the temperature of a volcano’.

This patch note doesn’t tell the full story, so the confusion from fans is understandable. Still, it’s a significant change you should know about. Not only because releasing a fire pal in a hot environment can kill you, but also because fire pals generating heat can now save you in freezing environments. To avoid dying with fire pals in a hot environment, you now need heat resistance lvl 3, and you also need lvl 3 cold resistance in a freezing environment with a cold pal.
