Following the content-packed State of Play back in May, which included trailers for Astro Bot, Concord, Silent Hill 2, and Monster Hunter Wilds, it seems the next PlayStation event is set to kick off soon.
In fact, according to Jeff Grubb, in the September 12 episode of Game Mess Mornings, it’s taking place “later this month.” “It’s probably coming in, let’s say, 12-ish days,” he added, so the next State of Play could possibly take place on September 24 or thereabouts. Of course, since this hasn’t been confirmed by Sony or PlayStation yet, we wouldn’t recommend taking this as gospel because things could still change between now and then.
Even if the State of Play does end up happening on the previously mentioned date, the games that PlayStation will be showing during the alleged upcoming event haven’t been confirmed yet. However, with the PS5 Pro and a list of all the enhanced games having already been revealed, you can probably expect it to showcase more titles that can take advantage of its tremendous hardware upgrades and processing capabilities.
It’s also worth pointing out that if the next State of Play does take place on the 24th, this would put it two days before preorders open for the PS5 Pro. So, if the rumors are to be believed, advertisements and segments showcasing its features and power could take up a majority of the showcase. But with no PS5 Pro exclusives, all the fancy new improvements for PlayStation’s advanced state-of-the-art console may not matter at all, especially with its $700 price tag.
Now, while you wait for official details on the next State of Play, why not learn more about PlayStation’s console upgrade by checking out our PS5 vs. PS5 Pro comparison? This way, you can find out whether it’s actually worth getting the latter.
