PlayStation fans have had a decent year so far. There has been some great console exclusives like Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and the newly released Astro Bot. Even more games are set to come out before the end of the year, and an insider has possibly leaked the PlayStation State of Play September 2024 date. Not only that, but they also claim a PS5 Pro announcement is coming “next week”.

Astro Bot is the highest-rated standalone release of 2024 so far, and it’s the second highest-rated release of the year entirely behind only the Elden Ring standalone expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. While Astro Bot has been anticipated, most people are craving news about the PS5 Pro. While the console is not yet official, a reputable leaker has revealed details about the PS5 Pro design.

The console is believed to still be coming out this year, and it’s possible we could be getting an announcement “next week”. In addition, we could be getting the heavily rumored PlayStation State of Play September 2024 shortly after.

PlayStation State of Play September 2024 date leak

Renowned Chinese insider, Lunatic Ignus, claims the PlayStation State of Play September 2024 date is either September 19th or 20th. In addition, they posted on X that “Sony will announce their next leap of this generation next week”.

Starting with State of Play, Sony has not announced an event for this month as of writing. However, it has been rumored by often reliable sources before. During the Giant Bomb Game Mess Mornings stream on August 26th, insider Jeff Grubb said, “What I’ve heard is there is probably going to be a State of Play, a Sony PlayStation State of Play… by the end of September”.

Assuming it’s true we are getting a State of Play this month, then September 19th/20th is probably the perfect time as it’s one week before Tokyo Game Show on September 26th. Sony has already confirmed PlayStation will be part of TGS to provide an exhibit that includes Death Stranding 2.

As for a PS5 Pro announcement “next week,” this would be fantastic if accurate. The PS5 Pro isn’t official, but there are numerous leaks and rumors. Developers reportedly discussed the PS5 Pro in secret at Gamescom, with claims such as it will run Unreal Engine 5 games much better.

There is no concrete release date for the PS5 Pro, but Insider Gaming claims “documents sent in mid-2023 showed the PlayStation 5 Pro release date… was in the latter half of November 2024”.

Although it’s still believed to be on course for a release this year, there is the possibility it could be pushed back to 2025. Hopefully it does get announced “next week” as alluded to, but remember that this is only a rumor rather than anything official.
