Battle royale shooter Fortnite’s latest season has had fans pining for some of the game’s older POIs, cosmetics and experiences, and one enterprising fan has submitted their own concept for how exactly this could be done.

Over on Twitter, FNChiefAko has shown off their concept for a season dubbed Fortnite Revival, which would see some of the game’s best-loved older content come back and give players another chance to experience some of the stuff they’ve missed in the game’s six years of existence. The concept includes some nods to Fortnite’s past, but given some new twists to reflect story changes and some pretty fun explanations for their return – for example, Fossil Falls brings back Chapter 3’s antagonist The Herald in a new, fossilised form. Defeating her will net players the Mythic Chrome Splash item that was the signature of that season.

The concept also includes suggestions for a few badass new items, such as Hand Turret comprising of a glove that can shoot infinitely between cooldowns, a portal grenade that’ll let players teleport around the map and a pair of boots that grant super-speed. There’s also a bunch of what’s sure to be popular unvaulted items, including flying saucers, the ray gun and Stinger SMG.

Fans are impressed with Ako’s work too, with responses from those such as FNBRBananik who says “Honestly, this would be the most fun season in a while. Absolutely love how this concept fuses elements from past chapters, since we didn’t have another ‘Season X’.” Many others agree, saying they’d “love to play this concept” and some even going so far as to say “Is this real please tell me this is real“, hoping that Epic Games themselves might take notice of this ingenious concept.

For our money, it’s a fantastic idea – making a nod to the game’s past while still offering something new for long term players who have stuck around and may have already experienced the past chapters. Especially as players have been quite vocal of late of wanting to see the return of POIs and other things from chapters gone by for those that missed it or weren’t even playing the game during their original appearance.

The general consensus among Fortnite fans has definitely appeared to be one of disappointment with the latest season, which launched back in June. Even a recent Summer Escape Event was blasted by fans for a lack of substantial content, so Epic have a lot of work to do to make the next season a little bit more worth player’s time.
