Battle royale shooter Fortnite has made a lot of changes over its many seasons, especially to its points of interest on the map. Now, some fans are getting nostalgic for one specific location that’s been lost to Epic’s updates.
Prince_of_Punch asked over on the FortniteBR subreddit if anyone missed the Weather Station POI, saying it was one of their favourite locations to land in. “Weather Station was my first choice off the bus.” It seems that there’s plenty others who agreed with him, as the community reminisced about the location. “That was my main landing spot for like a year! So much happened on that mountain top across the various seasons. I miss the agro Zenith a.i. and the dancing chimp guy,” replied gaveup2020 “We used to land there and then take a pickup truck down to Catty to gather groceries and then rotate over the bridge. So many good memories made on that snowy peak.”
FLCitizen had similar fond memories. “That was my favorite spot. I use to solo in squads and if a squad landed there I’d land at the top of the mountain and fingers crossed there was a chest. Also right below there was Catty Corner, so this whole area the weather station and Catty Corner was my favorite, also the road that went through a lot of people would just drive through it coming from retail row or Misty Meadows.” Similarly, Comprehensivebee2202 added “I loved the Weather Station, my main landing spot. Then down to Catty Corner, down to the river and motorboat to get to where I needed to be. Via Slurpy to stock up on health and shields.”
In fact, some are going so far as to say they miss many of Chapter 2’s locations, such as Tetro247. “the chapter 2 mountains are still undefeated imo because of all the cool and memorable landmarks surrounding them. chapter 4 is definitely an improvement over 3 and the mountain makes landing at brutal more fun but i really miss places like the weather station and all the little campsites, it added way more personality to them.” Even more succinctly, Infamous_Public7934 adds “I miss it, and I miss Chapter 2 overall. Best Chapter to date imo.”
While the very nature of live service games means places like the Weather Station will come and go, there’s always going to be those that stay in some fans hearts for some time. Whether the jungle or the city areas of Chapter 4 will invoke that sort of nostalgia may be too early to tell, but they’ll always have the memories.
