Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is now out for everyone to enjoy. Alas, not everyone is enjoying it as the game is receiving massive scrutiny from the Call of Duty community. There was lots of trepidation heading into the game’s launch, and its state at release hasn’t won fans over. Many players are upset with the single-player and multiplayer, and the MW3 user reviews on Steam are particularly painful and hilarious with one common complaint.

MW3 is now fully available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. We have provided a guide to the best graphics setting for FPS quality on PC, and we have also provided a guide for how to navigate the battle pass for rewards. Alas, regardless of any guides, the biggest problem with the game is the game itself in the eyes of many fans. There are complaints that the campaign is too short and plays too much like Warzone PvE, and there are also complaints that it’s simply a rushed product.

However, the biggest bone of contention is the price and that it feels like DLC for Modern Warfare 2. This criticism can be found in many user reviews on Steam where the game is faring poorly from a critical point of view.

MW3 Steam reviews

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 currently has over 3,100 reviews on Steam, and the game’s current status is mostly negative. One review says they ‘would rather buy WinRar,’ meanwhile, another review says ‘it’s like going back to an abusive girlfriend’. One particularly fowl user review says that, instead of playing MW3, they’d rather eat the rotten feces ‘of a road-killed skunk with elderly diarrhea then down it with buffalo urine’. This user review gets even nastier, but the sentiments can’t be repeated here.

The common complaint amongst reviews is that it’s 70$ DLC for MW2. One review says ‘Nice scam, so greedy and about money,’ meanwhile, another says ‘It’s literally a patch for MW2, this should be a $20 expansion’. Reports suggest MW3 was originally a DLC expansion for MW2, so it’s not just fans making accusations without any basis. There’s also the fact there is no MW3 platinum trophy for PS5 with the trophies listed under MW2.

Of course, not everyone hates the game. One constructive review says they ‘love the zombie mode but the multiplayer needs to be balanced,’ and another positive review says the pros outweigh the cons with Sledgehammer more open to feedback than Infinity. As of writing, there are 967 positive impressions and 2,440 negative. As for Metacritic, Forbes reports that this is the lowest-rated Call of Duty game of all time.

Despite the poor reception from fans, the game is still bound to sell amazingly well, and the playerbase on Steam is still huge. As of writing, the highest 24-hour peak since its November 10th release is over 190,000 according to Steamcharts. Hopefully, the game gets much better following the Season 1 start date in December as lots of new content will be dropping.
