MW2 Slimline Pro unlock – can you unlock the Slimline Pro Optic in Modern Warfare 2?

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer is in full swing, with gamers around the world battling it out across MW2’s impressive variety of maps.

One of the big things you need to decide on in MW2 is what attachments to add to your weapon. These range from optics and ammunition carried, to stocks, grips and barrel extenders. Despite a plethora of optics available in Modern Warfare 2’s Gunsmith, there’s one attachment that is getting a lot of attention – the Slimline Pro Optic. But can you actually get this attachment in the multiplayer? Let’s find out.

Can you unlock the Slimline Pro Optic?

Currently, the only way use the Slimline Pro Optic is in the private matches in Modern Warfare 2. It also appears in the game’s campaign, although that won’t help you here. In private matches simply hover over the attachment, and the optic will appear and can be equipped.

This is because all of the attachments in MW2 private matches are unlocked independent of weapon level. In public multiplayer, there is currently no way to unlock the Slimline Pro Optic – regardless of whether you have achieved the max level for your weapon.

This is obviously not ideal, as it’s one of the best optics in the game – balancing speed with decent performance at mid-to-long-range firefights. It’s no wonder COD fans are hoping to see the Slimline Pro arrive to multiplayer sometime soon.

Call of Duty fans on Reddit have been quick to voice their opinions on why it is not available, with some claiming it’s ‘bugged’.

Sadly, there has been no official word from Infinity Ward on if the Slimline Pro Optic will become available in multiplayer, although we do think a bug is the most likely explanation here.

It’s probably something that slipped through the gaps and will be addressed in an update, although it appears not have been fixed in the latest patch.

A viable alternative to the Slimline Pro is the Cronen Mini Red Dot Optic – which offers 90% of all the benefits of the Slimline Pro, and very little drawbacks. It works particularly well with the M4, but is just at home on the Hurricane, too.
