Infinity Ward has revealed that they’ll be reintroducing the powerful Intervention Sniper Rifle and adding a new 6v6 map once MW2 Season 3 rolls around. Call of Duty veterans may already be familiar with the former as this is a weapon that has already been featured in past installments like the original Modern Warfare 2 and Infinite Warfare among others.

The announcement came as part of a short clip that featured well-known CoD streamer FaZe Dirty being invited to the developer’s studio to test out the weapon in-game. After showcasing a few scenes of the long-range firearm’s capabilities, the content creator would then go on to praise it by saying that it’s “powerful,” and that “the feel of it, the way it scopes in feels really good.”

Towards the end of the video, it would then be revealed that the deadly Sniper Rifle would be returning as part of the Season 3 Battle Pass on April 12. Now that a date has been provided for both the weapon and the new season, players can finally have something to look forward to again after a lackluster Season 2 update.

But aside from the welcome return of a familiar gun, it also seems like a new map is going to be introduced as well during the third season. Reportedly called Pelayo’s Lighthouse, the upcoming location heavily features an outdoor setting with a few structures sprinkled throughout. It’s heavily reminiscent of the Gun Runner map from Modern Warfare 2019, so gamers should thoroughly enjoy this new addition.

These latest revelations are starting to excite the disillusioned fan base once again as it’s also recently been announced that Gunfight would be brought back with MW2 Season 3 as well. Hopefully, Infinity Ward can fix some of the prevalent issues that are currently plaguing the game, like the broken report system, so players can finally truly enjoy this latest CoD creation.
