Modern Warfare 2 gamers on PS5 and PS4 are experiencing crashes in Infinity Ward’s latest game.
MW2 players have faced a number of issues during launch, including the ‘reset rank‘ error on PC, and the Vault Edition rewards not turning up. There have also been issues with Xbox and PC players not being able to disable crossplay, a bug that did not affect PS5 players.
Now, however, it seems that PS5 players have been hit, with gamers experiencing lags at best and blue display crashes at worst. This tends to happen just before players are entering games.
Although it’s likely to get patched, the crashing is certainly causing disruption, with gamers heading to Twitter to voice their concerns. One wrote on Twitter: “PS5 crashing once match starts”.

Another added: “My game keeps crashing and when I open it back up it brings me to an installing menu. The only way to get past it is to delete the multiplayer pack and reinstall it. I’ve had to do this 3 times now. PS5.”
There is no official fix yet from Infinity Ward – we will update this article as soon as one becomes available. Some have reported that turning off ‘parallax effects’ could help the issue. Also, make sure the latest game updates are downloaded.
The bug is the latest in a growing list of errors that are affecting the Modern Warfare 2 launch.

We are now almost certain a patch will come to address these issues, as well as tackling concerns around a lack of Barracks in the MW2 game menu. There has already been one update, 1.04, that addressed issues raised by the community following the beta a few weeks ago.

Earlier, we covered the news that gamers are unable to see their KD ratio in MW2 as there are no Barracks in the game. This will almost certainly be addressed in an upcoming Modern Warfare 2 update given how many people focus on multiplayer.
In the meantime, you can contact Activision Support right here. We would not recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the game as this may not work.
