The Season 2 update will soon be gracing the divisive MW2 installment and, as expected, plenty of new content will be arriving with the game’s upcoming patch. Unfortunately, players aren’t all that happy about the changes that have been teased since most of the additions have seemingly just been recycled.

A large number of players were initially pleased at the inclusion of a few fan-favorite modes, such as Gun Game and Infected. However, some users were able to see through the smokescreen and had instead stated that these match types should have already been included since the game’s launch.

As usual, frustrated individuals have taken to Reddit to voice their frustrations regarding Infinity Ward and Raven Software’s lack of creativity when it comes to bringing in new features. A recent post, scathingly entitled “the season 2 update is insulting to your player base,” noted that some of the upcoming additions were “bordering deception to the more casual players that don’t keep up with the game as much.”

The features that the exasperated user was referring to are the introductions of what’s being marketed as “new” maps. As veteran players may already be aware of, the “new” maps that are being added as part of Season 2 are merely remakes of old locations, which means that they aren’t exactly bringing any novelty or creativity to a game that’s sorely been lacking in this area.

Players commenting under the same thread have asked other users to boycott the game entirely in order to push the developers to react to the community’s growing frustrations. Others have even tried leaving feedback through Activision’s support website, however, it seems that the “Leave Feedback” button only redirects to the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit, which only frustrated players even more.

The mounting discontentment within the player base doesn’t seem like it’s going to end soon as the developers are seemingly returning to their old patterns of not communicating their plans for the current title. Hopefully, they are able to introduce a few novel features soon to please the player base. But with a new CoD title reportedly already in the works, Activision may just end up abandoning MW2 entirely.
