Mortal Shell, the Dark Souls-inspired fantasy, is getting DLC, called The Virtuous Cycle.
During IGN’s Summer of Gaming Expo, the DLC for Mortal Shell was one of many announcements.
Check out the trailer:
The description reads:
“In this new teaser trailer, developer Cold Symmetry reveals the upcoming Mortal Shell The Virtuous Cycle DLC. The trailer confirmed it will be coming soon to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.”
There isn’t a release date set for The Virtuous Cycle, and no word on whether it will be standalone or not. Either way, it looks as dark and richly begrimed as the main game—maybe even more so.
I enjoyed the game, when I played it last year. Of all the games that paid homage to From Software, it did so in perhaps the most faithful way.
This from my review: “If you’re willing to devote a weekend to its mood of windbitten despondency (it’s only fifteen or so hours long), you will not emerge from Mortal Shell unrewarded.”
There was also an “Enhanced Edition” of the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, which brought 4K and a slew of visual upgrades. The chances are that The Virtuous Cycle will be available on next-gen platforms as well.
