Capcom has revealed the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise DLC, entitled Sunbreak, with an in-depth digital reveal event.
Presented by the game’s director, Yoshitake Suzuki, the event gives us a number of details. It also showcases the game in action.
Check out the reveal here:
As you can see, the expansion is pretty big. It packs in the new Follower Quests, a new hub area called Elgado, and, naturally, new monsters. The headline monster is Malzeno, which absorbs the life force of other monster. Malzeno actually gets its own trailer, too—check it out:
The Sunbreak expansion arrives on Switch and PC on June 30th, 2022.
Monster Hunter Rise came out in March last year, and it was very good indeed. In my review of the game, I said:
“It’s difficult not to be bowled over as you watch a feline chef and his staff caper through a culinary ritual of song.”
And that is a sentiment I very much stand by today. Rise wasn’t the only game in the series that Capcom released last year. We also got Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which was also very good. In my review of that game, I said:
“Wings of Ruin may not make a hardened hunter of you, but nor does it want to. It would rather bring you along for its own wondrous ride.”
