Capcom has announced Monster Hunter Rise will get a new expansion entitled Sunbreak which will arrive in Summer 2022 on Switch and PC.
A teaser trailer for the expansion debuted last night during the Nintendo Direct presentation. Details are currently scant, but we’re promised “an all-new storyline with more new monsters, new locales, gameplay elements, a new quest rank, and more”. Lovely.
We were quite taken by Monster Hunter Rise when it released back in March. “There is enough fun available for those who are happy to muddle through, and the winning combination of Wirebug and Palamute adds enough zip to each fight that you can swing over much of its more intricate baggage.”
Capcom haven’t rested on their laurels since launch either. They’ve added plenty of new content in free updates, including crossovers with Street Fighter and Okami. It’s certainly paid off for them too, with the game helping Capcom to record profits in 2020-2021.
It’s worth pointing out the expansion will also arrive in the same period on the PC too. Monster Hunter Rise hasn’t made it to PC yet, but with this announcement we presume Capcom believe it’ll have landed before then.
Expect more details in the coming months. Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak launches on Nintendo Switch and PC in Summer 2022.
