After suffering through a barrage of leaks that revealed several important details about the next series installment, Activision has now decided to put its foot down by finally confirming themselves that Modern Warfare 2 content will carry over into Call of Duty 2023.

This information was revealed through a post created by the official Call of Duty Twitter account. In it, the publisher simply asked: “Should MWII Operators, Weapons, and Blueprints carry forward into Call of Duty 2023,” after which a poll was conducted with the only options being “Yes” and “Yes, when is reveal?”. This indicates that the cosmetics that you already have from the current installment, such as the ones from the recent The Boys crossover, will be usable in the next entry, though it currently remains unclear how exactly you’ll be able to bring them over to the upcoming game.

ORIGINAL STORY FOLLOWS: Modern Warfare 2 has brought its player base a plethora of different cosmetics throughout its relatively short life span, but some have often held off on purchasing these accessories since they become obsolete as soon as a new game comes around. Based on a recent leak, however, it seems that these worries have been unfounded as the operators and weapon cosmetics you purchase from the current CoD entry will reportedly carry over to Modern Warfare 3.

With rumors and the accompanying excitement surrounding the Call of Duty 2023 game steadily starting to rise, fans have already begun wondering what will happen to the myriad character outfits they have in Modern Warfare 2. Luckily, a generous CoD data miner named bob. has given peace of mind to these troubled players by providing evidence that operator and weapon skins from Modern Warfare 2 will be transferred to Modern Warfare 3.

Now, bob.’s Twitter post initially contained an image of the TAQ-V assault rifle showing up in the MW3 weapon roster, further reinforcing the fact that players would be able to reuse the cosmetics they already have from MW2. Unfortunately, the image has since been taken down due to copyright claims, but not before a large number of fans were able to get a glimpse of the graphic in question.

Some commenters apparently weren’t surprised at this revelation as DANNYonPC simply said: “Well, it was initially a DLC so it makes sense,” alluding to the previously revealed detail that Modern Warfare 3 was initially meant to be an expansion only as opposed to a standalone game. Meanwhile, others simply praised this decision as a few responders called this “a win” for the community.

But, as always, since this information hasn’t officially been confirmed by Activision or the developers yet, you will still need to take it with a grain of salt until further proof is provided. With the arrival of the next series installment fast approaching, however, you may not need to wait too long to find out.
