Infinity Ward has given fans insight into the planned AI improvements coming in next month’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

The video came in the studio’s latest Intel Drop for the title on Tiktok. There, a few developers spoke on working with real life Navy Seals to make the enemies you’ll be fighting act as realistic as possible.

A focus this time seems to be the enemy’s own sense of self preservation. In previous titles, says AI Engineering Director Sergio Ocio, the enemies were a little too happy to get in the way of your bullets.

However, now enemies will react more tactically, and engage with the environment better. You’ll see them take cover better, and more strategically hunt you down and react to how you attack them.

The AI of your squadmates too, will be more believable. The hope is that you’ll be immersed more into the game, and feel more like a real soldier.

We will, of course, get to see a lot more of Modern Warfare 2 later this week. A huge Call of Duty NEXT event is scheduled to take place this Thursday.

The event will kick off 5.30pm UK time (or 9.30AM PDT) on the official Call of Duty socials. It’s expected to reveal Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer as well as Warzone 2.0 and Warzone Mobile.

Then, this weekend marks the start of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta. First off, with PlayStation owners who’ve pre ordered the game stepping in from this Friday. You can read more on that here.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 28, 2022.
