Xbox has finally announced a new release date for its Top Gun: Maverick DLC for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The official Xbox Twitter account revealed the news in a rather low-key fashion, declaring the date for May 25. That’s two days before the movie’s theatrical release date on Friday, May 27. The tweet didn’t offer any further information however, such as what exactly will be in the offering.

Xbox and Asobo Studio announced the tie-in DLC back during last year’s Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, and at that event did confirm the pack will include the F-18 Super Hornet featured in the movie. It was seemingly all ready to release in the Fall of last year, until Paramount delayed the movie itself. It seems the tie-in was too close to ignore, so the expansion was delayed into 2022 to follow suit.

It’s not as if Microsoft Flight Simulator fans haven’t had plenty to keep them busy in the meantime, however. The teams have released regular World Updates for the game in the interim, including most recently featuring South West Europe back in March. Microsoft Flight Simulator is even playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming, so even the lower-spec hardware of the Xbox One can take to the skies.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more about what else the Top Gun: Maverick DLC for Microsoft Flight Simulator entails closer to launch. One more time, that’ll be on May 25 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
