Next time you decide to buy one of the amazing Marvel Rivals skins, you should do proper research. While in-game cosmetics are fantastic, some of them look different in the shop and in the actual game. This has sparked an outrage from players who feel that they’ve been misled.
Before releasing a skin to the Marvel Rivals shop, NetEase releases a video preview of it on social media. This preview shows more or less what the skin looks like, and you should use it as a reference. The latest Doctor Strange skin is a great example of this, and here is why.
Marvel Rivals skins may look different in the game as opposed to the shop
On Thursday night, NetEase released a Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness bundle. It includes the legendary skin for the Vanguard, who looks really amazing. His shop skin shows hands behind him, yet this is not the case in the game. Once you purchase the skin, you will notice that the hands only appear while using the Eye of Agamotto, his ultimate ability.
Unfortunately, you cannot take the skin for a test drive to see what it looks like. Yet if you purchase it, there is no way of refunding it.
Many other skins in Marvel Rivals have similar issues. For example, Thor’s Love and Thunder skin looks amazing, but it has sound effects that may be distracting. The mightiest Avenger also received a Lord of Asgard skin, which is arguably one of the best-looking cosmetics in the game. Unfortunately, this skin has a massive cape that covers a big part of the screen, especially while using the Awakening Rune.
Before buying a skin next time, be sure to check out its gameplay video. In the future, we hope NetEase will let us try skins in the practice arena before purchasing or, at the very least, offer a simple refund system.
