Nintendo has announced it’ll bring 48 remastered courses to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in a Booster Course Pass paid DLC.

The remade tracks will arrive across six waves between now and the end of 2023, with eight courses per wave. These courses will come from entries throughout the almost-30 year series from 1992 to present day. These include the original Super Mario Kart on the SNES, handheld outings like Mario Kart DS and even mobile title Mario Kart Tour.

Naturally, Wave 1 is up first, and that’ll arrive as soon as March 18. It’ll include courses like Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii, Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64 and Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour. You can pre-order the entire pass already, at a price of £22.49 on the Nintendo eShop.

However, Nintendo has also revealed that the Booster Course Pass will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. For no extra cost, subscribers will get the additional courses on top of their existing perks. These include the N64 classic games, Sega Genesis games and Animal Crossing New Horizon’s Happy Home Paradise expansion.

Last month, rumours were rife that Nintendo was working on Mario Kart 9. This new development seems to put paid to that, at least before 2023. Amazingly, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was a Nintendo Switch launch title in 2017, and aside from some promotional game tie-ins, this is the first major DLC the game has had in its Deluxe form.

Check out the trailer for the DLC below. Wave 1 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass tracks will arrive on March 18.
