News flash: Mario Kart 8 is really popular. Like, really. In fact, NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella has confirmed that it's the second best-selling racing video game in the US of all time. First place? Mario Kart Wii.

The milestone is based on dollar sales and includes both the original Wii U version of the game and its Nintendo Switch overhaul, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Indeed, Ninty has been enjoying some massive success as of late. The Switch overtook the PlayStation 4 as the best-selling console in the US for last year, while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continued to pull in the punters, setting records in the process.

If you haven't played Mario Kart 8 yet, then you should probably give it a go. Seriously, the multiplayer will take your right back to the glory days of the mid-90s, when four people were crowded around a stupidly tiny TV for some four-player mayhem.
