Manor Lords has released and has already topped the Steam charts. The game, which has launched in early access, has been in development for years with more than 3,000,000 wishlists on Steam. As thousands flocked to download the game, many were hit with a Steam error – which stalled them downloading it.
The game, which sees players build civilisations and take part in large scale battles, is being developed by Slavic Games and published by Hooded Horse. It was originally scheduled for a release in late 2023, but this was delayed after the developers wanted to make the game as polished as possible. Upon release, players will need to contend with a sophisticated weather and season system, as well as economic factors such as taxation and resource management.
Manor Lords has succesfully knocked Counter Strike 2 and the newly released Fallout 4 update down the pecking order. Other popular titles, including Helldivers 2 were also knocked down as thousands of fans raced to get their hands on the early access title. At the time of writing, there are currently more than 100,000 players jumping into Manor Lords, a number we expect to see skyrocket over the weekend.
Despite being in early access, Videogamer’s Tom Bardwell awarded Manor Lords an 8/10 rating in his review, stating it had ‘future classic potential’. The devs have promised to keep the title updated and work on it throughout the early access period.
