Despite being a PvE game, Helldivers 2 also includes the ability to take out opponent, and unfortunately also allows the host to kick a player out that will mean players won’t achieve the rewards granted such as XP.. This is going to be fixed in the upcoming Escalation of Freedom update from, but for now it is a common issue in the game.

U/WorldBeMine took to Reddit to share a story where they were forced to kick a player from a Helldivers 2 mission. While many see kicking at the end of a mission as griefing, and this is even going to be addressed in the upcoming Escalation of Freedom update to still grant the kicked player all of the rewards, in this case, it feels like this was completely justified.

“Recently, on a mission me and my friend and 2 other Helldivers completed the main objective very quickly. With about 25 minutes to spare, we had plenty of time to complete the side objectives and gather more samples,” they said.

“I told them I’ll call down extraction so it’s ready but won’t leave, so we don’t have to rush when we are done. My friend and one of the other Helldivers stayed behind, and one of them followed me.”

When calling in extraction, you don’t need to board it immediately if you have time to spare. If it has landed, it will wait for you. But, once the timer runs out you will be given just 20 seconds before it flies away. Whereas if you don’t call it down before the timer runs out, extraction will then be automatically called it, giving you an extra two minutes.

“I told him we were going to do some sample hunting and he could come with me. When he stayed, I told him I would kick him if he gets on without us.” They then went on the detail the Helldiver boarding extraction anyway saying, “I guess he got bored and jumped on extraction with none of us close by. I kicked him on the spot. With that, the game ended. We got the xp but no samples while he got nothing.”

It is always a shame to incidences like this happen, but after seeing the detailed account of what happened, the player did deserve to be kicked Along with changes to kick griefind, Escalation of Freedom also includes brand new difficult setting, no plans.
