Hogwarts Legacy, though perpetually mired in controversy, quickly became one of the most popular titles in recent memory upon its release. Its brilliant gameplay, visual design, and explorable open world naturally made players assume that Avalanche Software would eventually introduce DLC to the game at int.

Instead, fans are now incredibly disappointed due to the developer’s revelation that there are presently no plans for DLC. During IGN Fan Fest 2023, Hogwarts Legacy game director Alan Tew was interviewed about some of the beloved in-game features. At one point, though, he had then mentioned that “they’ve been really heads down bringing the game to life,” so at the moment, there is currently no additional content that’s being worked on.
As has often been the case, fans have now taken to Reddit after learning of the news. Predictably, player reaction has largely been negative as most had been hoping for a Quidditch DLC to arrive in the near future. Commenters under a popular post are clearly surprised at the report, with one person suggesting that “the hype and pre-orders before release” was surely an indicator of more future content.
Some people are speculating, however, that instead of introducing DLC, the developers could have something much bigger planned. One user wondered “if [Avalanche Software] working on a similar sequel that can be released fairly quickly.” Another user then responded that they “could see [the developers] making a ‘Miles Morales’ style game with the same map and Hogwarts but a different character.”

Even though the developers have stated that they currently aren’t planning any additional content for Hogwarts Legacy at the time of writing, it doesn’t mean that there won’t be any in the future. With so much to explore and discover in the game, there should still be plenty to do for players even if DLC doesn’t end up being introduced.
