The release of Helldivers 2 on Xbox consoles is just a couple of weeks away. The launch has been highly anticipated because of Microsoft players able to join the battle for democracy, but now there is seemingly the added benefit of a crossover with Microsoft’s flagship IP, Halo. Arrowhead hasn’t explicitly confirmed the collaboration as of writing, but Xbox has pretty much confirmed the Helldivers 2 Halo ODST crossover in a telling response.
Xbox pretty much confirms Helldivers 2 Halo crossover
Since the release of Arrowhead’s latest trailer hyping the release of Helldivers 2 on Xbox consoles, everyone has figured there will be a crossover with Halo thanks to the trailer playing Halo 3 ODST Rain.
In addition to this soundtrack, there has been an “Unknown Signal Detected”. As noticed by fans on the helldivers subreddit, this unknown signal is “VIRGL’s alert sound in reverse”. As explained by one user, “VIRGIL is the superintendent AI for New Mombasa, the city Halo 3 ODST takes place in”.
Now, aside from these teasers, Xbox has pretty much confirmed the crossover is happening in response to fans on YouTube. On the Xbox YouTube channel for the HD2 Bring The Boom trailer, one user commented, “HOLY S*** HALO ODST 1:15 LETS GO ODSTS ARE DEPLPYING,” to which the official Xbox account responded, “Yeah, buddy!” and “As are we, friend. As are we”.
We don’t know what the crossover between HD2 and ODST will be, but it’s most likely a Warbond. Judging by the typical Arrowhead release schedule, the next Warbond is set to come out the same week HD2 joins Xbox consoles on August 26th.
Warbonds typically come out on Thursday, so the likely release date is August 28th. Arrowhead also typically announces Warbonds one week before release, so HD2 x Halo could be announced on August 21st.
