It is a turbulent time for Helldivers 2 right now, as players leave the game following months of mismanagement and reactionary updates. Thankfully, it seems that those days could be behind us as Arrowhead Game Studios is focused on rectifying many of the issues with a planned 60-day roadmap that will fix many of the problems plaguing the game.

The Arrowhead Game Studios CCO, and former CEO, Johan Pilestedt took to Discord to update the community with what to expect from the upcoming patch. “I have been working closely with the team to look at the game experience (balance mostly),” he said.
“We are confident in the update that we are creating that will see a significant meta shift and bring the game into a state where the playfulness takes the front seat and challenge is secondary. I have had a good time with the experience shift.” Pilestedt concluded by giving some positive news that the new update will be “closer to the original intent of the game and what it was at launch.”
This is great news to hear as Pilestedt has been a key proponent when it comes to pushing for Helldivers 2 to return to its roots and focus on chaos battles rather than a balanced PVE experience. Only time will tell though as to whether this comes to fruition, as Pilestedt also stated that players shouldn’t get “overly hyped based on my bean spill, it’s too easy to get disappointed. The proof is in the pudding.”
However, I am hopeful and confident that Arrowhead will turn it around and deliver. The developers have a once-in-a-generation game on their hands and I’d like to believe they will do everything they can to not let it fail. But, only time will tell and all eyes will be on Helldivers 2 over the next few months as the team enacts the planned 60-day roadmap.
