A lot is coming to Helldivers 2. The Into the Unjust update has arrived, and the patch notes include an onslaught of horrifying new enemies as well as deadly missions, powerful buffs, and a whole lot more. All of this is just a couple of days before the new Dust Devils Warbond and its accompanying extra armour and weapons. While all of this is great, Arrowhead are by no means resting on their laurels as they have a lot more content cooking behind-the-scenes. One possible feature Arrowhead is investigating is split-screen co-op, however, the studio’s CEO isn’t convinced Helldivers 2 fans really want it.
Helldivers 2 split-screen co-op is “technically feasible,” but CEO is unsure fans really want it
On the Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, was asked, if HD2 will ever get split-screen, with the user reckoning that it “would probably be too taxing on Xbox and PlayStation but PC could be epic”.
In response, Jorjani stated that split-screen is “technically feasible,” and it is a feature on the studio’s list to “investigate”. However, while possible and something the developers may investigate, the CEO also said, “I have no idea if it’s a feature ppl really want”.
It would be cool if we could get split-screen added to HD2 as it would another element to co-op gameplay. However, right now fans are more concerned with Arrowhead delivering better optimization, especially for PC where the game is 100GB bigger, and there are arguably features players want more such as cross-progression.
