Helldivers 2 is one of the hottest games on the market today, with it regularly having over 200,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. The game also recently surpassed eight million sales, making it one of the most successful games of the year so far. Along with Palworld, Helldivers 2 is steering 2024 towards being one of the best years in gaming, competing with 2023 which saw many fantastic games including Tears of the Kingdom and Resident Evil 4 Remake be released.
Players have taken to Reddit to discuss the need for Arrowhead Game Studios to improve audio cues for enemies with the capability of killing players in one shot. Enemies such as the Bile Spewers can attack out off nowhere and it has no audible sounds to let players know they are either being targeted or being attacked. This becomes a major problem on higher difficulty when there can be multiple that have spawned at the same time, meaning you can have many one-hit attacks aimed at you with no way of knowing or a way to defend yourself.
Helldivers 2 is designed to be a difficult game, but when games are difficult due to flaws in its development, it can eventually become frustrating and turn players away. Arrowhead Game Studios has a fine line to walk when it comes to ensuring the difficulty is due to the skill level increasing and not aspects of the game just becoming too much to deal with.
With certain strong enemies being capable of one-shotting you with no warning, being as prepared as possible is key.
