In Helldivers 2 two factions are a threat to Super-Earth. The first is the Terminids, the large bugs that have been at the center of many of the missions and stories over the past months, including the recent Terminid Control Systems community event and the current Major Order with players racing against the clock to liberate planets of the creatures. But, there is another group of enemies that are just as big of a threat to Super-Earth, the Automatons.
The Automatons are merciless robots, programmed only to kill. They can be a thorn in the side of any team due to their use of rocket launchers, which are often very unpredictable and can take out players very quickly. Helldivers 2 players have taken to Reddit to discuss a much-needed change to the Automaton robots. These can be found on the Western Front and are the second faction posing a threat to Super-Earth alongside the Terminid. The Automatons are known for using rockets as weaponry, which can become the difference between success and failure at a moment’s notice, especially on higher difficulties. The rockets often come from out of nowhere and there can be many of them coming at you at once with no way of knowing they’re locked onto you until it’s too late.
Some possible changes that could be made to make it easier to detect the rockets and evade them. One solution is to add laser sights to the Automaton’s rockets. This will allow players to see where the explosives are going to hit which will make evasion much easier. However, players soon pointed out that at difficulty 9, which often has a nearly overwhelming amount of Automaton to deal with, the screen could become like a laser show with the number of rockets being fired.
So far, there are two factions to fight in Helldivers 2, but it looks like a third is coming soon as players have speculated that the Illuminate could be coming to the game soon.
