It has been a strange time in Helldivers 2 recently, with many Major Order failures turning out to be positive for the Galactic War. The current Major Order calls for players to eradicate 1.5 billion enemies from the galaxy, which looks like the community will fail their mission. However, this will result in players being granted the Anti-Tank Mines, marking the first time that players are rewarded for failure.
The previous Major Order saw players unable to liberate numerous Automaton planets. Despite being unsuccessful, some Helldivers 2 players continued to fight and their hard work paid off as the Automatons are now in a dire state.
Despite failing the previous Major Order, the Helldivers 2 community has continued to work on liberating planets such as Wezen, which finally fell and became controlled by Super Earth. This cut off the Ymir Sector and disconnected it from the Trigon Sector. Now, there is a split between the Trigon Sector and Hydra, Lacaille, and the Valdis Sectors. This has left the Automatons in a weakened state and it will be interesting to see how the robot army will claw things back and gain a new stronghold in the Galactic War.
But, with the new Escalation of Freedom update coming, there will be new planets and enemies coming to Helldivers 2, which means that it likely won’t be long until the Automatons are coming back stronger than ever. This comes before the Freedom’s Flame Warbond launches on August 8th, which will finally add fire-resistant armor to the game after months of requests by the community to make planets such as Hellmire more bearable.
