Helldivers 2 players praise the Black Hole event

The recent Dark Fluid Major Order was an incredibly stressful experience, with it being one of the most difficult missions seen in the game. But, it was all worth it as when it was finally completed, players were met with an emergency evacuation sequence and a really eye catching purple light that encompassed the ship. With a black hole now looming in the galaxy, the future of Super Earth looks uncertain and is being threatened in a way not seen so far.

The Major Order and black hole event has been met with a positive response from the Helldivers 2 community, with many praising the creativity and effort out in by the developers to make it a unique experience. Arrowhead Game Studios crafted a unique mission and post-Major Order event that would only last for a short period of time, which is a great sign of things to come.

U/AHolySandwich took to Reddit to praise Arrowhead Game Studios for the recent Dark Fluid mission as well as the aftermath that caused Meridia to be destroyed and turned into a black hole, saying,

“Major props to the Devs for doing an event like Meridia collapsing. The immersion something like this provides is incredible. I was in a mission when the order was completed, and let me tell you; extracting to the Super Destroyer to be met with a huge black hole just sitting outside the windows followed by an emergency FTL jump to Super Earth makes the storytelling portion of this game feel so good. I really hope we get more of this in the future, there is staggering potential for this game. Great job by the devs.”

Many other players responded with their own praise for the mission and story, including u/FireGlitz who had only began playing Helldivers 2 a couple of days before the Major Order began, which was called their “baptism of fire” by another player. U/FireGlitz said,

“This was a great MO to start playing at and also bad. I just became a diver 2 days ago and got to do the black goo missions which was really fun. However it was a little overwhelming. I learned the game pretty quick but I could never manage to extract.”

It has been a rough time to be a Helldivers 2 player recently, with much of May overshadowed by incidents such as the PSN controversy, which played a part in the game seeing it’s lowest player count ever. With this black hole event signalling the beginning of The Illuminate story arc, we could see things turn around for the game as players check out the futuristic faction. If there is anything that will bring players back it is The Illuminate.
