Since the release of update 01.003.200, Helldivers 2 fans have discovered that a reported buff is actually a nerf, meanwhile, fans have also gotten their hands onto the Control Group Warbond. While a lot of the Warbond is great with the community especially loving the Warp Pack, there has been a lot of complaints about one particular weapon, and a Helldivers 2 developer has admitted that its sliders are way “too much,” so we can expect a buff to hopefully make it better soon.
Helldivers 2 dev admits new weapon is “too much”
One of the new stratagems part of the Control Group Warbond is Plas-45 Epoch. This is a “support weapon which charges plasma into a focused sphere which is then fired,” as described on the PlayStation Blog.
Unfortunately, since the Warbond’s release, there has been a lot of complaints about the support weapon stratagem online. On the game’s official subreddit, fans have discovered its stats include 150.0 horizontal and 100.0 vertical weapon spread.
As pointed out by many replies, this is “egregiously bad” as it makes aiming and hitting neigh on impossible. Some have figured it had to be a “coding typo,” while others have accused Arrowhead of leaving players to be the QA again.
While not a typo, on the Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead balance developer, Alexus, admitted that it’s spread values are “too much,” so they “will look into that”. Following Alexus’ response, the known issues web page has been updated, stating the “PLAS-45 Epoch has incorrect spread values”.
We don’t know when the weapon will be updated, but hopefully it happens soon and at least before HD2 comes out on Xbox consoles in late-August. It will be a buff for the Epoch as the spread values will be lowered, but we unfortunately don’t know by how much. Hopefully the buff will be a significant improvement as the Control Group Warbond is largely fantastic.
