Helldivers 2 continues to be a hit for Sony on both PC and PlayStation 5, proving that it was a good decision to release these versions simultaneously. This decision is paying dividends, as the recent PSN outage meant only PC players could hold the line for their PS5 patriots.
The game’s community has plenty to enjoy right now, with a recent leak confirming a new Warbond and faction coming to Sony’s multiplayer shooter. Even some of the controversial features in Helldivers 2 might be getting fixed, with a recent poll asking fans what to do about ragdoll physics.
However, the recent mass outage of PlayStation Network has forced PC players to find the line on the game’s latest major order. With players pushed to keep battling the tyrannical bugs to protect the new DSS space station, PC players had to pull double duty.
Helldivers 2 PC players hold the line for downed PlayStation comrades
A post on the Helldivers 2 subreddit showed how PC players can hold the line without their PS5 brethren. It might just be a simple meme showing that PC players kept shooting the enemy but it did resonate with plenty of fans.
Considering how passionate fans are about this shooter, it would have been more surprising if PC players stopped playing during the outage. Granted, there are aspects of the game that fans don’t like, with some weapons getting nerfed when they needed buffs, but the love for this shooter is still going strong.
Don’t hold the line for online-only consoles
Sony has since fixed the problem and PS5 players can continue playing Helldivers 2 with their PC friends via cross-play. However, it was a troublesome process for many, with some players unable to turn on their console. This shows how gamers can’t rely on consoles always online, even if that’s what these companies want.
Unfortunately, it seems like Sony wants some control over players in their games, forcing them to log in to their PSN accounts for single-player titles. The upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is forcing players to log into their PSN accounts, which means over 170 countries won’t be able to purchase this version.
