Sony is forcing a mandatory PlayStation Network login on players of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on PC. After already annoying the internet with the game’s unnecessary remaster, PlayStation is about to infuriate a lot of PC players.
PSN forced into Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Following the announcement of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, a PlayStation Blog post confirmed that PSN logins will be required for the new version of the game.
As fans create mods to strip PSN requirements out of single player games like God of War Ragnarok, fans have made it clear that the restriction has no place in single-player releases. After the Helldivers 2 PSN debacle, it has no place in multiplayer releases either.
In a PlayStation Blog post, Sony sneakily added a small notice that an “Account for PlayStation Network [is] required on PC”. In return for the account restriction, fans will be able to use the PlayStation Network overlay and earn trophies for their account.
Is there any reason for PC players to upgrade?
In its current form, Horizon Zero Dawn on PC is already a brilliant looking game that can be played at high framerates on most modern rigs. However, the new remaster does add better quality models, animations, lighting and more.
While some claim the new game looks worse than its PS4 original, devs have come out to state that it’s not the case.
While the new visuals are nice, the new PSN restriction means Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is in even less of a good spot than its PS5 release. With many already unhappy that the remaster will release as a paid upgrade, it’s not looking good for the PC release.
The new remaster releases on PC and PS5 on October 31, 2024. The upgrade will cost $9.99, but new customers will have to pay full price for the game.
