Helldivers 2 players recently achieved what many thought was impossible. Super Earth soldiers rallied together and, with barely anytime left, beat a monumental Major Order that tasked players with eliminating millions of Shriekers, Impalers, Factory Striders, and more. Now Arrowhead has started a new Helldivers 2 Major Order that teases a “new era of Gloom exploration”.
New Helldivers 2 Major Order teases “new era of Gloom exploration”
There is a new Major Order now in-motion for Helldivers 2 players to complete. It is set to end on August 5th, and it is asking players to successfully extract 30,000,000 Rare Terminid samples within the Jin Xi sector. It also says players will need to hold Turing and Achernar Secundus when the MO expires to protect Super Earth’s genius scientists and brilliant engineers.
As for the purpose of this MO, it could lead to a “new era of Gloom exploration” thanks to “New Alcubiere Drive shielding technology”. This is because “Experimentation has revealed that Gloom spores coat FTL drive components, fusing to them at high temperatures and causing catastrophic meltdowns”. To protect against this, “A new synthetic polymer coating, using protein structures derived from Terminid exoskeletons, has shown promise in disrupting Gloom spore surface cohesion”.
Arrowhead’s MO further states that “Burst Terminids originating from FORI PRIME have spread outside the Gloom, a first for this strain. While this development is concerning, it also presents an opportunity [as] Biological samples of Terminids from within the Gloom could be the final boost needed to mass-synthesize effective Gloom shielding polymers”.
What’s also interesting about this Major Order is that it’s the final objective before Arrowhead personnel come back from their vacation on August 4th. As for what we have to look forward to when Arrowhead are back, CEO, Shams Jorjani, has said “Most people are back on the 4th and we’ll be focusing 100% on bug fixing and optimization”. This was part of an apology for not leaving the game in “tip top shape” before the holidays.
Focusing on bug fixing and optimization makes sense as Arrowhead will want the game to perform as well as possible before the release on August 26th for Xbox consoles. Away from optimization, Jorjani has also said a highly-requested feature is coming but won’t be rushed “until it’s in a good place,” and the CEO “won’t rest” until the most exciting leaked weapon is in the game.
