The next Helldivers 2 update is set, and Arrowhead’s CEO has confirmed that the Illuminate’s Leviathans will be returning after their disappearance was caused by a bug. There is a lot to look forward to in October for HD2. Aside from Arrowhead confirming the next update and that they aim to “double down on fixes, polish, and better communication,” there will also be the annual Liberty Day event bringing Super Earth soldiers free content. While this free content is something to look forward to, more details have been shared about the next update scheduled to land in a few weeks.
Leviathans will return in next Helldivers 2 update
Leviathans have been missing from Helldivers 2 since the Into the Unjust update released at the beginning of September. A lot of fans have been unsure whether the disappearance is intentional and when the Leviathans will come back. Fortunately, we now have answers.
On the official Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, was asked, “Are Leviathans deleted from the game?”. Jorjani responded by clearing the air about their removal, practically confirming that it was the unintended result of a “bug”.
In addition, Jorjani said that the bug is “fixed for the next patch, afaik [as far as I know]”. This means Leviathans should return in the update that is currently scheduled for “mid-October”. There’s no specific date, but patches typically land on Tuesday, so we’re probably looking at October 14th.
While the return of Leviathans is good news, there’s new Illuminate set to join the battlefield according to leaks. Apparently, these new Illuminate will attack before the end of the year, but internal plans for their arrival may have may changed due to the ongoing issues with performance.
