Helldivers 2 recently received a lot of new content thanks to the Into the Unjust update. This has resulted in a lot of issues with performance, and the Arrowhead CEO has stated that part of the problem is “crippling technical debt”. While Arrowhead are committed to improving the performance and optimization, they don’t want to slow down on new content as they are seeking a healthy balance. Bugs have received a lot of new content with Hive Worlds, and the Illuminate could be next with new Cultists possibly arriving by the “end of this year” while Helldivers 2 leaks also tease a devastating “Superweapon” from Automatons.
Helldivers 2 leak teases Automaton “Superweapon” and new Illuminate by “end of this year”
According to prominent Helldivers 2 leaker, Iron_S1ghts, Arrowhead is now developing “Automaton factory worlds”. No specific details are provided, but it’s said these worlds will contain “many unique objectives” along with “large ‘factory’ cities”.
Alongside “factory worlds,” Iron_S1ghts teased that the bots are also developing a “Superweapon”. Unfortunately, no details were shared about this weapon, but it hardly sounds good for us Super Earth soldiers.
There’s no ETA for when this new Automaton content will arrive, but Iron_S1ghts has said that “The halo collab was a big deviation from what was planned a bit back”. Because of this, “Cultists are still a bit away”. Iron_S1ghts’ “previous estimations pinpointed them [new Cultists] to be released closer to the end of this year [and] It’s likely still closer to that”.
Judging by Iron_S1ghts’ comments, it seems we will get the new Illuminate Cultists first, hopefully in December, and then the Automaton factory worlds will come sometime in 2026.
If you’re unaware about the new Illuminate Cultists, these leaks include enemies such as a “sniper and close-range assassin,” as well as the returning Illusionist. There has also been the leak of new cultists summoned by even more new Illuminate, and those summoned look and act like Husks from Mass Effect.
Assuming new Illuminate Cultists do arrive by the end of this year, it’s possible an announcement could be made during The Game Awards scheduled for December 11th. HD2 was at Geoff Keighley’s show in 2024, and this is when the Illuminate made their debut with the Omens of Tyranny, so it would be poetic for new Cultists to follow in their footsteps.
