The Super Earth invasion by the Illuminate has been fantastic. It has resulted in Helldivers 2 reaching its highest peak player count in a year, and Arrowhead has entertained the possibility of keeping SEAF troops around as fans beg for them to stay. While there should be multiple more Major Orders dealing with the protection of Super Earth, a Helldivers 2 leak has revealed the possibility for multi-faction planetary invasions in the future as Mega Cities spread across the galaxy.
Helldivers 2 leak reveals “Multiple factions can attack a planet at once”
Prominent Helldivers 2 leaker, Iron_S1ghts, has revealed that, in the future, there is the possibility that “Multiple factions can attack a planet at once”. Per the leaker, this is because of the addition of the “Mega City system,” which means “each city can be individually targeted by a different faction”.
Unfortunately, there are a couple of disclaimers. Right now, “cities on other factions do not work yet (similar to the release of colonies), so it just crashes if you load in”. However, it’s an exciting prospect for the future as it is a “function that is supported by the current system”.
In addition, Iron_S1ghts replied “Not at the moment” in response to a user wondering if multiple factions can be in one level at once. This means that, although multiple factions may target the same planet, they would need to be in different Mega Cities as one level cannot contain both the Illuminate and Automatons, as an example. Hopefully this is something that does work in the future though as battling against multiple factions on the same battlefield would be incredible.
In regard to Mega Cities on other planets, Iron_S1ghts has revealed that “the Mega City system is not exclusive to Super Earth,” and that it has been applied to the following planets across the galaxy:
- Alamak VII
- Oasis
- Genesis Prime
- Irulta
- Emorath
- Liberty Ridge
- Alairt III
Per Iron_S1ghts, “These are all currently active in-game. So, if a campaign opens on one of these planets, you would be able to fight on the cities”. In the replies, Iron_S1ghts elaborated “No new planet biomes were added,” and also stated that bot and bug cities “will come later like colonies”. Lastly, the leaker also explained that Oasis is an Illuminate planet, it’s just listed under Automaton control in the screenshot as a placeholder.
