In recent years, Master Chief has smashed through walls in Rainbow Six Siege and shaken that thang in Fortnite. The Green Guy sans Blue Lady is an iconic video game character, and the world of Halo has been a massive inspiration to the world of PlayStation’s brilliant multiplayer game Helldivers 2.

The game’s basic armour looks like an ODST, the game’s drop pods are essentially an ODST drop pod, the Super Destroyers are similar to the design of Halo spaceships (which are themselves clones of Aliens ships, to be fair) and the ship that rescues us at the end of every mission is called the Pelican. Hell, the game’s newest land vehicle is called a Puma, a reference to the two-decades-old Halo machinima series Red vs Blue (which only ended last year).

Ever since launch, fans have drawn comparison between Helldivers 2 and Halo, but the game’s talented modding scene has taken everything one step further by creating conversion mods that bring the world of Xbox’s flagship series to the hands of HD2 players. And we need an official crossover. Right now.

There are so many Helldivers 2 Halo mods

Halo-themed mods for Arrowhead’s shooter were some of the first mods released for the game. However, in the last few months, the talented modding scene for the third-person action game has exploded with a seemingly endless supply of amazing mods based on the Xbox shooter.

For example, modder Jaypino’s Dogmatic Reach is an entire in-game Warbond that brings some truly amazing ODST recreations to the game with chest and armour variants to pick from. Another mod changes the Super Destroyer to a Halo Reach Paris Class Heavy Frigate, and another mod even brings the legendary Chips Dubbo to the game.

There are Halo mods for everything in HD2. You can play as Master Chief, you can listen to the longing piano keys of Never Forget as you stroll through cities decimated by the Illuminate, you can replace land vehicles with the classic Warthog or play with any number of Halo enemies and guns. Want the Illuminate to be terrifying Elites? No problem!

There are pages upon pages of this.

While Helldivers 2 on Xbox appears to not be happening any time soon, if ever, there’s still hope that the game could get an official Halo crossover one day. After all, we already know the restrictions that all crossovers must abide by, and the game’s Killzone crossover was mostly successful despite a few issues.

While PC mods are more than any official crossover could, bringing weapons, enemies, vehicles, music and more from Halo into Helldivers 2, console players are still missing out. With a massive PS5 player base, it would be amazing to see some Halo content on the console version of HD2. And with Halo allegedly jumping ship with the release of the teased Halo: Combat Evolved remake, a crossover could be some great advertising. Although, does Halo need it? (These days, probably.)
