Helldivers 2 has been fantastic ever since it came out at the beginning of 2024 and it’s only gotten better with the impending invasion of Super Earth from the Illuminate. While HD2 is currently Arrowhead’s bread-and-butter, the developer has previously discussed plans to explore and create other experiences away from fighting for democracy. The studio’s next game is still many years away, but the company CEO has just revealed it will be “100% funded” by Arrowhead themselves, while also praising the partnership with Sony for Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 devs’ next game is “100% funded” by Arrowhead

On the Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, regularly communicates with the fanbase. Remarking on the critical and commercial success of Helldivers 2, Jorjani said, “the wonderful thing is that thanks to the amazing support of you FINE people, Arrowhead’s future is quite bright and we have the freedom to explore some really cool concepts that we couldn’t have otherwise. Game 6 (our next project) will happen the way it will happen thanks to you”.

In response to one user pleading for Arrowhead’s next game to “be available in all regions,” Jorjani revealed that the studio’s “next game is 100% funded by ourselves so we’ll call 100% of those shots”.

While this means the studio’s next game will be independent of Sony, Jorjani stressed that “PlayStation are great” and that “there would be no Helldivers if it wasn’t for them”. The CEO added that Sony are “incredibly game/dev oriented, solid partners,” and that Arrowhead are “open to working with them again in the future”.

There are no details about what Arrowhead’s next game could be, but “a very, very small team will spin up something later this year and go at it slowly”. The Arrowhead CEO also assured fans that “Helldivers is our [Arrowhead’s] main focus and will be for a loooong time,” and that the studio can keep HD2 going “As long as you folk keep playing and buying super credits”.

Previously, Jorjani has said that, if Arrowhead “can keep it [Helldivers 2] going for 10 years, we will”. This doesn’t mean that the plan is to keep supporting the game for a decade, but they will so long as it still makes sense from a business point-of-view. Either way, if you’re a fan of HD2, you needn’t worry about the game getting abandoned anytime soon, even as Arrowhead begin to explore what’s next.
