Instead of adding new content, Arrowhead are currently “100% focus[ing] on bug fixes and optimization”. This is part of a push to get Helldivers 2 in as good a shape as possible before the release on Xbox consoles in just a few weeks. Arrowhead have said they are “locked in for a busy month,” and there are “weird” bugs the Helldivers 2 team is looking into fixing.
Helldivers 2 devs “locked in for busy month”
On the Helldivers Discord, community manager, Mittchimus, was asked if Arrowhead have plans to provide an expanded emote wheel. Miitchimus responded, “Yeah Bask and I have mentioned this, I am not sure what is happening about it but the studio is locked in with the busy month ahead!”.
Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, has previously said the developer is focusing on bug fixes and performance optimization prior to the launch on Xbox consoles. As for what type of bugs are being looked into, Support Agent, B Vitamin, confirmed Arrowhead are “aware of some weird audio issues causing some weapons to not have sounds when fired”.
This bug was apparently around before the most recent update, and there is some confusion as “It doesn’t seem to be related to the weapon themselves, since everyone reporting this bug is reporting it with different weapons”.
As for what else Arrowhead are looking into, the known issues webpage recently added the issue, “’Leviathan’ and ‘Warrior’ change to ‘Advocate’ when used in Super Destroyer names”.
Shams Jorjani has apologised for performance and assured fixes will be delivered “hopefully soon”, but also said “I didn’t quite promise all the bugs would be fixed. But it’s a general focus before any launch”. The CEO also confessed that Arrowhead “are very good at tracking the bugs [but] Problem is we’re good at making em too”.
The release date for Helldivers 2 on Xbox is August 26th. Jorjani has said players should “send your thanks” to PlayStation instead of Arrowhead for getting the game onto Microsoft consoles.
