The big week for Helldivers 2 is here! Tomorrow we’re getting a major update delivering significant balance changes and fixes, and soon after we’re getting a new Warbond that will help you fight for democracy with bug spray. Right now we’re focusing on the imminent update, and the Helldivers 2 developer has responded to a major leak possibly revealing secret weapon buffs.

Arrowhead’s upcoming update is landing on September 17th, meanwhile, The Chemical Agents Warbond is releasing on September 19th. Both are part of Arrowhead’s 60 day roadmap designed to reengage players with HD2, and it’s fair to say the community is excited by what’s around the corner.

While Arrowhead has confirmed a slew of buffs already, quite a few more have possibly been deciphered by the community. These aren’t confirmed for Helldivers 2, but they would be fantastic if true.

Helldivers 2 leak reveals more weapon buffs

In a short recently shared by Arrowhead for Helldivers 2, fans noticed some blurry patch notes in the background. It’s hard to decipher because of the blurriness, but the community has come together and possibly uncovered the buffs included.

Posted in a Google doc shared on Reddit, below are the possibly leaked weapon buffs:

Scythe:

  • Recoil removed || Maybe the recoil removed is more meaningful than I thought, or popping heads from afar is super broken, but this does not seem like that much. You will still flinch like hell while getting shot. Remember to take everything here with a spoonful of salt.
  • Adjustments to the heat vfx effects
  • Sight changed to a more powerful scope (eruptor scope)
  • Cools down slightly faster
  • Sets enemies on fire faster

Crossbow:

  • Explosion radius increased by 50% || Quite good! Might be 37%.
  • Explosion damage from 150 to 300

Eruptor:

  • Shrapnel is back! But now has more but smaller shrapnel [unreadable] || Hopefully the shrapnel damage is meaningful.
  • AoE Explosion nerf from 340 to 225 || This is a substantial nerf. Once again, hopefully the shrapnel more than makes up for it.

Defender:

  • Damage increased from 70 to 75 [This… does not seem like much at all. Might be wrong.
  • Durable damage increase from 7 to 8

Liberator Penetrator:

  • Damage increased from 45 to 60 || Just a straight up upgrade to base penetrator with less bullets but more AP? Might be 80.

Diligence:

  • Damage Increased from 125 to 160
  • Durable damage increased from 32 to 42

Counter Sniper:

  • Damage Increased from 140 to 200
  • Durable Damage Increased from 14 to 20
  • Stagger force increased from 15 to 20

Torcher:

  • Increased AP 3 -> 4 // Expected.
  • Flame mechanics reverted to before 1.002
  • Damage Increased by 30% // Crisper probably went through the same changes.

Blitzer:

  • Now has a slight stun effect that builds up on targets.

Peacemaker:

  • [Changes unknown due to no visibility]

None of the above is official, it’s just what the community believe they have deciphered from some blurry images.

As for what’s confirmed already, Arrowhead has detailed a massive buff for the flamethrower along with a 625% weapon increase for the railgun. You can check out our early patch notes for a full rundown.

Arrowhead responds to leak

On the Helldivers Discord, community manager, Twinbeard, has stated Arrowhead are aware of the aforementioned leaks. However, rather than expressing disappointment, the community manager expressed no issues with the leak.

On Discord, he posted, “We’re aware. Tbh, even if it risks spoiling some of the surprise, I think it’s a really feelgood thinig. Yet again it proves the ingenuity and power a dedicated community has”.

He didn’t confirm the speculation is accurate, but at least Arrowhead are not upset. Hopefully the deciphered content turns out to be true, and fortunately we only have to wait one more day for the full patch notes to be shared.
