Helldivers 2 received a brand new patch update yesterday. Fans had been waiting over a month for a new patch to arrive, and most of the 100 balance changes and fixes have been well received by the community. However, fans feel the Patrol Spawn rate has gotten worse rather than better. The Helldivers 2 community manager has responded to complaints about Patrol Spawns, and it’s clear that the player experience right now wasn’t intended.

In addition, the Viper Commandos Warbond is out, and Arrowhead has announced significant changes to future warbonds. There is no roadmap for the game yet, but the CEO has suggested a roadmap may arrive after summer.

Fans had been impatiently waiting for a new balance patch to arrive, and, as mentioned, most of the changes have been received incredibly well. However, fans were not happy with the Patrol Spawns before the patch, and players are now unhappy again claiming that the new spawn rate is even worse.

Helldivers 2 dev responds to complaints about Patrol spawn rate

Since the release of yesterday’s update, there has been an influx of complaints about the spawn rate of Patrols in Helldivers 2. On Reddit, there are several posts such as “Patrol Spawns are not fixed! They’re worse!” and “What in the helldivers is happening – level 4 feels like level 7“.

In these Reddit threads, there are people discussing issues that have arisen. Some comments say “Chargers still spawn the same amount, and on higher difficulties it’s almost exclusively behemoths,” and other comments say, “I don’t think the less heavies thing is happening. Still seeing 3-4 tanks at a time on eradicate, hulks still dropping from ships 2 at a time”.

In the patch notes delivered yesterday, it was mentioned that “Patrol spawning is now back to how it worked before patch 01.000.300 with some slight tweaks so that the levels are less empty if you are far away from important locations with enemy presence”.

However, despite the intent to revert patrol spawns, many fans feel the spawn rate has gotten worse. On Discord, fans are begging Arrowhead to lower the spawn rate, with one fan tagging community manager, Twinbeard, in a message that reads, “New spawns not fun to fight… now it’s too overwhelming because the second you peek a corner you are going to die immediately, no matter how well you are set up”.

In response to messages on Discord, Twinbeard said, “I haven’t had time to play yet, but you’re saying the game is more difficult now? Spawns and patrols being reverted should make it easier AFAIK. Have to monitor this before being able to clarify, but off the top of my head, it seems a bit strange tbh”.

Large parts of the Helldivers 2 community unanimously agree that Patrol Spawns have gotten worse with the game now too overly difficult. Judging by Twinbeard’s response, this wasn’t intentional from Arrowhead, so we hope it’s something that will be addressed and fixed.
